Still Life With Cat is an alternative music project based in Pescara, Italy.
The idea of creating a brand-new project was born in 2013, when lyricist Alessandro Di Zio and guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Giampiero Mariani decided to merge their previous musical experiences and started writing songs together. The concept album “Megadream” began to take shape, and in 2015 singer Lisa Monaco joined the project, contributing a new direction to the vocal melodies and bringing light to its dark electronic atmospheres. The debut concept album, “Megadream”, set in a dystopian world dominated by machines, was released on November 17, 2018.
The year 2020 brought several important developments for Still Life With Cat. The single “Brain”, released on September 17, 2020, is an alternative and experimental pop song that anticipated the full-length concept album “Bodies Stories”, released on December 10, 2021. The album features nine songs, each titled after and inspired by a different body part, exploring various aspects of human nature, emotions and behaviour. Every song tells a different story, starting from the very matter that defines us: emotional matter. Dark atmospheres, powerful synthesizers and electric guitars, melancholic electric pianos and Mellotron sounds, together with catchy melodies, acoustic guitars, rich backing vocal harmonies, flutes and horns make “Bodies Stories” a colourful and kaleidoscopic album.
With “Bodies Stories”, Still Life With Cat expanded its collaborations by welcoming singer Marlò, photographer and singer Erika Secondino, and director and actress Gabrielle Finnegan, who directed the videos for “Brain”, “Liver” and “Heart”, creating a trilogy available on the official Still Life With Cat YouTube channel.
On December 17, 2023, Still Life With Cat released “Megadream 2023 Remix”, a more powerful, brighter and cleaner remix and remaster of its debut album.
The year 2026 marks a turning point for SLWC: singer Erika Secondino officially joins the project as a permanent member, bringing a warmer sound to the band’s music.
SLWC is currently working on the arrangements for its third album, “Kids”, collaborating with singers Manuela Limina and Valeria Zulli.
The single “Rainbow Fishes”, the first preview of the upcoming album, will be released on Friday, August 28, 2026.
